Broker's Comments

Boatshed Essex has been instructed to sell this 1980 Hustler 36 performance racing cruiser by the solicitor of the late owner. As such, we have limited information about the boat, its history or paperwork, this thought is reflected in the price.

We do know that whilst the owner was alive he regularly used the boat for cruising the Essex and south coast.

The Hustler 36 was the boat to beat in the early 80's and as such carried with her a reputation for being a fast, capable fin keel performance cruiser.

As you will see from the photos on deck she is sadly in need of a good wash and some much needed TLC. Speaking to some neighbouring boat owners it is clear that when she was cleaned up she always looked a fantastic vessel and was much admired by other boat owners.

There is much information on the performance of the Hustler 36 available on the internet so its worth reading more about her extended and unusual stern that apparently made a huge difference whilst at sea.

On deck she offers nice wide side decks for moving around the boat and offers a very spacious cockpit area.

Inside she is much cleaner, there is a small galley area, a nice sized saloon area, a sea toilet and hand basin and finally 3 double cabins.

There are many sails on board however, these have not been inspected.

Beauty, the potential is huge. Wish I was in a position to buy

The beam on these boats built to the IOR rule, were measured a certain set points along the hullform, hench the unusual transom shapes. This one was manipulated to carry a greater measured sail area (80' square), then most of the competition, and hence it's success as a race boat of the era. Good article here if you are interested...
