Nye PreeceBoatshed Bristol
About Nye Preece
Hi, my name is Nye and I have recently joined the Boatshed team in Bristol.
I've always enjoyed messing about in boats, firstly as a sea cadet and then as a Radio Operator when I joined the Royal Navy, where I spent lots of time in an office!
I do most of my sailing in the Bristol Channel area where I've gained experience sailing a variety of boats from a Westerly 25 to a Northney 34, to name a couple.
I've also been a spare hand for a close friend, who is a boat surveyor, whenever she has needed to deliver or trial boats for clients.
Once a year we travel to Italy to stay with my partner's family who are keen sailors in the Adriatic, which is a lovely place to sail.
We spend lots of time wandering around the marinas and harbours around Grado, between Venice and Trieste, just looking at the various boats.
I've been an active member of Lydney Yacht Club and Newport Uskmouth Sailing Club.
I'm a huge fan of Westerly boats and have gained a fair amount of knowledge about them.
My own boat is a Westerly 25 which I have been restoring over the last couple of years. I also have an Orkney Strikeliner 16+ so that I can keep messing around in boats around our local river systems.
Though relatively new to sailing I have my radio certificate and am doing courses in boat handling leading to a dayskipper qualification, so I can be a bit more useful on cruises than just making tea :)
I am looking forward to working with Boatshed on your behalf and hope to meet some of you soon.
