Over one hundred and fifty canal boats crammed together at Little Venice in the centre of London of a beautifully warm bank holiday weekend. This year’s Canalway Cavalcade saw a record turnout in both boat and visitor numbers and Boatshed Grand Union was at the heart of it. With our sponsorship of the Real Ale Bar emblazoned on the side of the marquee for all to see and large scale banners around the site, not to mention thousands of branded beer mats and piles of postcards, our presence was unmissable.

Our stand, featuring not only Boatshed Grand Union boats for sale, but also canal boats and Dutch Barges from other Boatshed offices, saw a constant stream of visitors and generated a lot of enquiries. We will be listing several more boats as a direct result of our presence at Cavalcade.

The Inland Waterways Association was very grateful for the support of BoatshedGrandUnion.com and their Waterways Recovery Group were pleased with the “Introduce a boat” postcard which promises a £100 donation for every boat introduced, listed and sold.

We also held a “Fizz@Five” on the towpath opposite the Boatshed Grand Union stand, serving the Fizz from the stern counter of our boat “Persephone” and the neighbouring boat “Folly”. However we served at six rather than five in the hour between The Boatshed Grand Union Real Ale Bar closing to the public and reopening to boaters in the evening. Thus we ensured twelve continuous hours of hospitality under the Boatshed banner.

A lot more people now know that if you wish to buy or sell a boat on the Grand Union, London canals or the River Lee, www.boatshedgrandunion.com is the web site to visit
